The Trust is set to introduce a more flexible, lower car parking
charge at its New Cross site.
Visitors and patients will now be able to park for up to one
hour for just £1. A slight increase on other parking charges will
be made.
The Trust has not raised public charging since 2005, some seven
years. These changes will come into effect from Monday 5 March.
As the site is under increasing pressure for parking, it means
the Trust needs to encourage people to think differently about how
they travel and consider alternative, more sustainable methods of
transport, for example by using public transport
Compared with neighbouring Trusts, New Cross is currently the
same, or cheaper for its parking charges.

Those on low incomes are eligible to access reimbursements if
they can show proof of their benefit entitlement. It means they
will be able to claim back their travel expenses if travelling by
car or bus.
The Trust has liaised with local health watchdog LINks about the
new tariff which has been supportive of the changes. Disabled
parking charges are due to be reviewed and expect to be brought in
line with those of other Trusts.
