Dr Hans Clean joins the fight against
infection
With patient safety always at the top of the agenda the Trust
has recruited a brand new addition to the workforce to help the
ongoing battle to drive down infections. As part of the
drive to keep infection prevention in people's minds the Trust has
launched an ambitious campaign to engage patients and public as
well as our staff keeping the hospital clean. Dr Hans Clean has
been appointed to deliver the New Cross Code – five clear messages
to help reduce infections on site. Sharron Davies, swimmer and TV
personality, officially launched Dr Hans Clean and the New Cross
Code, with the clear message: “no matter who you are, or how and
why you come into the hospital, you need to do your part to drive
down infections by following the New Cross Code.”
In a major public awareness campaign, Dr Hans Clean has been
placed throughout the hospital site, with clear messages for
patients, visitors and staff, on the role they have to play. He
will be seen in leaflets, posters, patients letters, on the
entrances coming into the hospital and on the sides of some
buildings. He is also on the sides of buses that bring people to
the hospital
Dr Hans Clean will also be used in
posters and leaflets around GP surgeries and health centres to
ensure patients in the community are aware of the New Cross Code
before they come into hospital. Life size suits of Dr Hans Clean
will bring him to life and ensure he can attend community events
and spread the word about infection prevention, and animated
versions of him will appear on information screens, which have been
installed at key locations throughout the hospital.
