The Trust delivered an exceptionally strong all-round
performance in 2008/09. In addition to achieving operational and
finance targets we continued to demonstrate our achievements as a
high performing organisation by winning a number of local and
national awards.
The latest Healthcare Commission report in October 2008 rated
the Trust as ‘excellent’ for the quality of patient services and
‘fair’ for use of resources. In the report, the Healthcare
Commission said: “Based on our assessment for 2007/08 The Royal
Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust provided an excellent quality of
service to its patients. Its performance has continued to improve
over the last three years.”
Some of the main points from the report are:
- We fully meet existing national targets including all cancer
patients seen within two weeks of urgent referral from their GP; a
one month maximum wait from diagnosis to treatment for cancer
patients and less than four hours in the emergency department
- We perform well against new national targets such as MRSA
rates, access to sexual health clinics and waiting times for
scans
- A ‘fair’ result for use of resources shows that the Trust's
plans to get back into financial balance are on target and
demonstrates that we spend our money well and make sure that
the services we offer to patients represent good value for
money
Nationally recognised for providing excellence in healthcare and
one of only 7 Trusts in the UK chosen to be a showcase hospital for
infection prevention we are justifiably proud of our achievements
to date.
